Following from a previous article on how to make sour cherry syrup using sustainable practices in the home bar, here’s how to make Sour Cherry Manhattan.
In this variation on the Manhattan, sour cherry syrup is used to add a delicious fruity and nutty note to the classic Manhattan.
For the sour cherry syrup, white sugar, sour cherry water and pits are heated in a small pan until the sugar is fully dissolved. For more information about the sour cherry water, refer to the step by step instructions for how to make sour cherry syrup here.
Sour Cherry Manhattan Recipe
Original recipe created by Cocktails & Bars
Ingredients
- 60 ml rye whiskey
- 20 ml sour cherry syrup
- 15 ml sweet vermouth
- 2 dashes of Angostura bitters
Glassware: martini glass or coupette
Garnish: cherry
Method
Add all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice and stir to chill. Strain into a chilled martini glass or coupette. Garnish with a cherry.
