Since we first tasted Regal Rogue vermouth, some changes have taken place. The range now includes two new additions with the originals renamed to reflect wine descriptors.
Regal Rogue vermouths is the product of 100% Australian wine and native herbs and spices. Unlike some vermouths which are aimed at the cocktail category, Regal Rogue is designed to be an aperitif style drinking vermouth due to its semi dry flavour profile and lower sugar content than some traditional vermouths.
Regal Rogue Lively White (previously Regal Rogue Bianco) is the result of blending Hunter Valley Semillon with native Lemon myrtle, Desert limes, Finger limes and Native Thyme with elderflower, lemongrass, grapefruit and chamomile. The profile is semi-dry with citrus and floral notes on the palate. Sip neat on ice with lemon or with tonic, lime and a sprig of rosemary.
As its name suggests, Regal Rogue Daring Dry is an extra-dry aperitif, made with Sauvignon Blanc from South Australia and native Anise Myrtle, Quandong and Native Thyme, followed by white pepper, gentian, olive leaf and juniper. Dry, savoury with a hint of salty notes give the vermouth an umami finish that goes well in a 1:1 vodka martini served with an olive or caper berry.
Regal Rogue Wild Rosé brings Shiraz Rosé from the Adelaide Hills and native Illawarra plums, Rosella and Strawberry gum with Rhubarb and Kina. Tropical fruit and spice notes are evident on the palate and this semi-dry vermouth goes well in a spritzer with sparkling wine, a lemon wedge and mint sprig.
Previously known as Regal Rogue Rosso, Regal Rogue Bold Red is a dry style of red vermouth made with Hunter Valley Semillon. Barossa Valley Shiraz along with native Pepper berry, Wattle seed and Native Thyme followed by Cinnamon, clove, star anise, nutmeg and ginger. Its aromatic spice notes and hints of dried fruits lend it well to sipping neat on the rocks with an orange wedge, or in dark spirit cocktails.
Regal Rogue vermouth now comes in 500 ml bottles.
