Martini, not the cocktail but the Italian brand of vermouth, has long been associated with the aperitivo, an Italian ritual of enjoying pre-dinner drinks accompanied by a bite to eat.
Produced in Pessione, Italy, Martini Rosato is a blend of red and white wines with spices that include cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg along with raspberries and lemon. Deep rosé in colour, the vermouth comes in at an ABV of 14.4% and has floral, sweet and fruity flavours complemented with spicy notes of cinnamon, clove in a bitter-sweet finish.
Martini Rosato makes a sessionable aperitvo in easy to make drinks and cocktails at home. Try it on the rocks with a lemon twist or with gin in a softer style of Negroni. For an aperitivo that screams of long, hot summer afternoons spent in good company, enjoy it in a Martini Rosato Spritz and serve with a plate of green olives, prosciutto and Italian salami.
Martini Rosato Spritz Recipe
- 60 ml of Martini Rosato
- 60 ml Prosecco (eg Martini Prosecco)
- 45 ml sparkling water
Garnish: sliced strawberries, wedge of pink grapefruit
Glassware: copa glass
In a large copa glass filled with ice, add all the ingredients and stir. Garnish with sliced strawberries and a wedge of pink grapefruit.
